Pocketfood
Pocketfood delivers fresh, home-cooked meals to Nigerian office and remote workers who want to eat well without losing time to workday demands. Backed by 500 Startups and Bamboo, the platform offers variety, scheduled meal plans, and reliable delivery. Designed with real workplace eating data, Pocketfood helps professionals swap junk food and skipped lunches for nutrition that fuels productivity.
The Problem
Whether it’s a 9–5 in Lagos or remote work from home, many Nigerian professionals share a common struggle:
"I'm too busy to eat right."
Most end up grabbing junk food or skipping meals entirely due to time, stress, or sheer convenience. These habits affect energy levels, focus, and long-term health.
Pocketfood set out to change that — delivering tasty, home-cooked meals straight to workers where they are.
Why This Matters (Data-Driven Context)
Nigeria’s online food delivery market reached USD 1.04 billion in 2024 and is projected to hit USD 2.5 billion by 2033, growing at ~10% annually (IMARC Group).
33.8% of Nigerian adults eat fast food 3–4 times per week, showing a heavy reliance on convenience meals (PMC).
Irregular eating and frequent out-of-home meals are linked to obesity and chronic health risks among sedentary urban workers (Frontiers in Nutrition).
These insights validated Pocketfood’s mission and shaped the design decisions.

My Challenge
This wasn’t a blank canvas. I was brought in to redesign the v2 experience for both users and internal teams — keeping some legacy structures while introducing new, user-focused flows for mobile ordering and admin management.
The challenge was balancing familiar patterns with meaningful innovation to improve usability and make the experience feel modern and intentional.
Design Approach 🧠
This was an exploratory process, with several rounds of iteration:
Understanding the business & user mindset – Reviewed v1 usage patterns and pain points.
User validation – Used data on Nigerian workplace eating habits and delivery trends to guide priorities.
Flow restructuring – Simplified ordering and scheduling, optimized admin views for menu control and vendor onboarding.
UI Redesign – Delivered warm, minimal designs with strong CTAs and visual food cues.
Testing & iteration – Conducted internal usability reviews and stakeholder feedback sessions, leading to three rounds of refinements.
Unique Admin Functionality for Company Management
Beyond individual ordering, the company management dashboard enables HR or admin staff to:
View and manage all staff food orders in real-time
Assign and confirm meals based on employee preferences
Track delivery statuses for multiple orders at once
Simplify billing and payment for group orders
